A NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) foundation course is a preparatory programme for students planning to take the NEET exam for admission to medical colleges in India. It gives students a solid foundation in the concepts and principles of biology, physics and chemistry — the three subjects tested in NEET.
What does the syllabus cover?
The foundation course typically covers the Class 11 and 12 syllabus: cell structure and function, genetics, human physiology, ecology and evolution in biology; laws of motion, wave optics and modern physics in physics; and chemical bonding, equilibrium and kinetics in chemistry. It also includes practice exercises, sample questions and mock tests.
How is it taught?
Foundation courses are usually taught by experienced subject experts using lectures, discussions and hands-on activities to help students understand the material better.
Exam strategy matters too
Beyond the core subjects, a good foundation course includes classes on test-taking strategy and time management. Students learn the exam format, how to approach different question types, how to manage time during the exam and how to avoid common mistakes.
Extra resources
Students also get access to study materials, online practice tests and other resources they can use at their own pace.
